The pilot bearing or bushing must be drawn evenly into the back of the crankshaft, and the bushing is installed to a specific position. Hammering either into position will damage the crankshaft and thrust bearings. J-45949 installs the pilot bearing for manual transmission models, and the converter support bushing for automatic models.
